Saturday, September 8th – Night of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror
The Burbank International Film Festival is excited to honor the 50th anniversary of the Stanley Kubrick groundbreaking science fiction classic 2001: A Space Odyssey with a Q&A panel with one of the films stars Gary Lockwood (Dr. Frank Poole) in person. Following the panel, Gary will be signing autographs and photos at the Galactic Sci-Fi Party at the Iatse Soundstage as part of our Night of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror.

Gary Lockwood is also known for playing Lt. Cmdr. Gary Mitchell in the original Star Trek pilot “Where No Man Has Gone Before”. The Q&A panel entry wristband includes free entry to the Sci-Fi party with open bar, DJ, dancing and special surprises. This special festival event will sell-out!
Killer after parties – Friday September 7th & Saturday September 8th Iatse 80 Soundstage – 2520 W. Olive Ave. (corner of Buena Vista)
This year we’ll be having two amazing after parties both Friday & Saturday night. Friday night is our night of drama/thrillers and the party kicks off at 7:00pm. Saturday is our Night of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror and blasts off at 8:00pm and they’re both going to be a real scream. This year is going to be even scarier as we honor these horrific genres with a star-studded red carpet with film & television celebrities, special screenings and killer after- parties.
Immediately following all Friday & Saturday evening screenings, guests will teleport to the Iatse 80 Soundstage whose 6,000 sq. ft. facility will house the galactic after-parties complete with gourmet food trucks and interplanetary intoxications, two open bars, Monster Energy drinks and out-of-this-world entertainment. there will be great networking with the filmmakers, celebrity guests and cosplayers galore. Dance music will be provided by DJ Jerry with special performances by Marston Smith, “The Lord of the Cello”, the magic and mentalism of magician “The Fantastic Fig” and some other surprise performances as well. Experience a special star party and through celestron telescopes, see Jupiter, the rings of Saturn and a crater in Uranus (wait that didn’t sound right). This special interactive experience helps to expand astronomy awareness and is presented courtesy of the Astronomy Foundation. Don’t miss out on these two amazing after-parties on both nights, so join us for a howling good time.
Quantum Creation EFX
Quantum Creation EFX is a local Burbank Special Effects Company created by Christian Beckman and specials in practical effects and movie props. Quantum created the robot and props for the sci-fi/thriller F.R.E.D.I. which is screening Saturday, September 8th at 7:30pm. On display at the Sci-fi After-Party will be several props from the film and a special exhibit of their work. Quantum’s other film work includes “Snow White & The Huntsmen”, “Tron: Legacy”, “Star Trek”, “The Hunger Games”, “Men In Black III” and “Watchmen” to name a few. MUD (Makeup Designory)
MUD Studio Courses are developed to meet the growing demand for quality make-up education across the U.S. and abroad. MUD”s Burbank branch will be participating by presenting a special effects makeup demonstration at the Night of Sci-fi Afterparty.
