Paul Feig, the acclaimed writer-director-producer of film and TV comedies, will be honored with the Vanguard Award at the 16th annual Burbank International Film Festival, the fest’s organizers announced Monday. Feig, 61, will be celebrated during the fest’s awards gala at the Burbank Marriott Convention Center — a year after Burbank native Tim Burton was honored there — on Sept. 29. Prior to the presentation of the award, attendees will be treated to an hourlong career-retrospective interview with the Freaks and Geeks creator and Bridesmaids, Spy and Ghostbusters director, which will be moderated by yours truly and recorded for subsequent airing on THR’s Awards Chatter podcast.
